I am taking an online course that includes weekly coaching sessions. This is the first for me and now have experienced first-hand how valuable a good coach can be. During the introduction session, she mentioned that it’s going to be important for me to always include fun in what I do. This could be applicable to everyone with just the definition of fun varying.
Right now Life Lesson 2015 is one of my fun things and I need to prioritize it. I’ve decided. It’s included in my backlog because I have not consistently completed the weekly lessons so I’m on week 15, when the class is completing week 24. I’m not concerned with being behind, I just know that when I make sure to include art and crafts in my day, I’m more productive and have more joy. Seems pretty easy, right?
During this past week I worked on week 14 which included a lesson on drawing and painting 4 leaves. I didn’t consider myself fond of leaves so momentarily considered skipping the lesson or drawing another object. And then I thought, it’s a lesson so there is something I will learn if I do it as instructed.
As I completed the first leaf, I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. I was actually happy with how each one came out and totally understood and agreed with the instructor: drawing takes practice and patience. Yes, I have understood the importance of practice in all other areas of my life but thought that either a person could draw or she couldn’t, and drawing skills are basically inherited. Period.
I’m not saying now, I’m great at drawing but I do know that as I practice drawing more and more, I will better.
